About Dr. George Shapiro

Dr. George Shapiro has been in practice for 30 years. He specializes in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Age Management Medicine.

With a lifelong interest in science and research,  Dr. Shapiro has earned mainstream recognition for being driven by a need for innovation. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology from the State University of New York at Oneonta after attending the University of California, San Diego. He then finalized his education at New York Medical College, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine. This was succeeded by an internal medicine residency program at Yeshiva University’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine. George then finished his cardiovascular disease fellowship at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, a vibrant, urban teaching hospital equipped with groundbreaking cardiovascular technologies. George Shapiro refined his expertise in heart transplantation and congestive heart failure at this facility. He also finished a fellowship at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York. Each year, more than 600 applicants compete for six places in Columbia’s highly competitive cardiovascular fellowship program, which has been a trailblazer in training future heart doctors for more than two decades.

As president of Cenegenics New York City, Dr. Shapiro received the Alan P. Mintz, M.D. Award for Clinical Excellence in Age Management Medicine (AMMG). Each year, the Age Management Medicine Group offers this honor to a physician who has shown clinical excellence in Age Management Medicine and embodies Dr. Mintz’s goal of outstanding patient care, healthy living, quality of life, and entrepreneurship.

Dr. Shapiro has become known nationwide as an expert in age management medicine and leads one of the country’s most influential age management practices. He has patented medical gadgets and researched and invented new medical standards. He has long been regarded as one of New York’s leading cardiologists, focusing on regenerative medicine and enhancing lifespan, as well as the genetics of cardiovascular disease and congestive heart problems.

Dr. Shapiro is an Age Management Medicine Group (AMMG) member and an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor in Clinical Medicine at New York Medical College. She is associated with New York-Presbyterian Hospital and is an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor in Clinical Medicine at New York Medical College. Dr. Shapiro was selected as a New York City Top Doctor for 2018-2020.
